Bio

Kate is the Senior Manager of Content at Equip, creating content that helps break down complicated eating disorder topics, including different diagnoses, the intersection of body image and mental illness, and research-based approaches to treatment. Prior to joining Equip, she was a freelance journalist covering eating disorders, mental health, body image, and parenting, with bylines in The Washington Post, New York Magazine, Elle, SELF, and Glamour, among other publications. Her past work has received front-page placement in both print and digital formats, and involved interviewing dozens of industry-leading experts on complex topics in mental and physical health.

Prior to her current role, Kate's diverse career in the publishing industry included impactful editorial positions at Chronicle Books and San Francisco Magazine. She has also held significant roles such as Senior Marketing Manager and Content Strategist at WayBetter and Editorial Director at Oxford Digital Consulting Group. Kate’s experience spans across various aspects of content creation, from conceptualizing and writing to editing and strategizing, making her a versatile and valuable content leader.

Personal Interests

Beyond her professional achievements, Kate is the parent of two young children, an amateur home cook, and an avid crossword puzzler. She runs a personal website, katewillsky.com, where she shares her thoughts and experiences on various topics related to her expertise.

Educational background

  • BA, English, Pomona College
  • Kate graduated Summa Cum Laude from Pomona College with a B.A. in English and a minor in French. During her time at Pomona College, she was a contributing writer for The Student Life, an English department research assistant, and a French department grading and research assistant. She furthered her writing expertise with training at City College of San Francisco and the Valencia Street Writing Lab, led by author Sarah Wisby. In addition to her academic credentials, Kate is a certified yoga instructor, having completed her 200-hour certification through the Yoga Alliance, which enriches her holistic approach to content related to mental and physical well-being.
