About the event: Only a fraction of people with eating disorders get treatment, in large part because of accessibility barriers. Virtual care helps close this gap by eliminating many common barriers, whether they’re geographical, logistical, financial, or otherwise. What’s more, research shows that virtual eating disorder treatment is as effective as in-person care, and that when administered properly, virtual outpatient care is safe and effective for patients of all acuity levels. During this presentation, Equip's VP of Behavioral Health Care will review common barriers to treatment and share guidelines on how to determine when virtual care is appropriate.
Learning objectives: After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:
1. Name common barriers that impact a patient’s access to eating disorder treatment
2. Identify key considerations for determining appropriateness of virtual outpatient eating disorder care
3. Highlight research supporting the effectiveness of virtual eating disorder care
