We are seeking a Public Relations Manager (PR Manager) to help achieve one of Equip’s most important ambitions: to change the cultural narrative around eating disorders and body image. In this role, this person will help establish Equip’s public persona, nurture strong network of media relationships, increase awareness of eating disorders and our mission, manage all PR systems and processes, and  establish Equip’s communications strategy to help achieve key business goals. This person will need at least five years of experience and responsibilities including media relations experience (TV, print, digital and social) and  should possess a bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications and/or related field required. This position requires interaction across business areas and reporting into senior executives to ensure the PR strategy aligns with company goals.  Timely execution of all projects and a willingness to meet goals and turnaround work to meet 24-hour news cycle is a must. This person should have a love for language and story-telling that ultimately provides a sense of hope and healing for our audiences. Ideal candidates will be able to handle multiple project assignments, meet tight deadlines and see a project through from start to finish with minimal guidance. PR experience in an agency, association or healthcare industry is a plus. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop a robust communications & PR plan including strategy, goals, budget and tactics to achieve key business goals
  • Manage PR firm to roll out and continuously iterate against an always-on strategy along with key cultural and/or business milestones
  • Develop media relations strategy
  • Collaborate with the firm to high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media
  • Work directly with CEO, other senior executives, and Equip providers to integrate directly into press opportunities and build individual media relationships 
  • Run and facilitate media training for Equip internal spokespeople 
  • Leverage existing relationships with both local and national business and industry media outlets
  • Coordinate all public relations activities including management ofmedia inquiries and interview requests
  • Spearhead creation of content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations
  • Monitor, analyze and report on PR results on a monthly basis
  • Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national level
  • Experience in acting as a company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; an inherent love for storytelling

  • Requirements

  • BA/MA degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a marketing role; startup experience preferred
  • Proven working experience in public relations (in-house or at an agency)
